Stock Market Week Ahead November 2-6, 2026: What AMD, Palantir, Qualcomm, Uber, McDonald's and Pfizer Did on All 338 Report Days, Plus Election Day and the Jobs Report

Stock market week ahead November 2-6, 2026: businessman holding a laptop with a candlestick chart and week markers overlaid

The first week of November 2026 stacks four things on top of each other: the last big batch of third-quarter earnings, with Apple and Palantir on Monday night, AMD on Tuesday night, and Qualcomm, Arm and Uber on Wednesday; the midterm elections on Tuesday, November 3; the October jobs report at 8:30 AM ET on Friday, November 6; and the two ISM surveys on Monday and Wednesday. Below is the schedule with each company's own date, call time and guidance, and then the part the calendars leave out: what each of these stocks actually did on its report day, for every report since 2010.

The short version of that record: Palantir is the most volatile reporter of the week by a wide margin, with a median swing of 12.4% on its 24 report days and every single one of them at least 5%. AMD is next at 7.2%, and it has closed down on 41 of 67 report days since 2010. Uber and Qualcomm run near 5%. McDonald's and Pfizer, the two before-the-open reporters on Wednesday and Tuesday, have never moved 10% on a report in this record and rarely 5%. Across all six that is 322 report days, measured the same way, with the method and the per-company tables below.

The schedule for November 2-6, 2026, with sources

Dates and times below come from each company's own notice where one was posted; three are from the exchange calendars because the companies' investor pages could not be loaded when this was written, and they are marked. Economic releases are from the BLS November schedule and the ISM calendar, as listed on our November calendar.

Monday, November 2

  • 10:00 AM ET: October ISM Manufacturing PMI.
  • After the close: Apple, fiscal fourth quarter. Our Apple post has the day-after move for every report since 2009 and why the October report has behaved differently from the other three.
  • After the close: Palantir, third quarter, per the exchange calendars (Palantir's last six reports were all on the first Monday of the month after the quarter, including November 3, 2025). The company's own outlook, from its August 3 release: revenue of $2.160 billion to $2.164 billion and adjusted income from operations of $1.292 billion to $1.296 billion, after a second quarter in which revenue grew 93% to $1.935 billion and US commercial revenue grew 149%.

Tuesday, November 3, Election Day

  • All day: the midterm elections. The market trades a full session; the first full reaction is Wednesday. Our midterm post covers all 19 midterm years since 1950.
  • Before the open: Pfizer, third quarter, with the analyst call at 10:00 AM ET per Pfizer's webcast notice. The exchange calendars also list Shopify before the open.
  • 10:00 AM ET: September job openings (JOLTS), BLS.
  • After the close: AMD, fiscal third quarter, with the call at 5:00 PM ET, per AMD's October 6 notice. The outlook it set on August 4, word for word from the release: "AMD expects revenue to be approximately $13 billion, plus or minus $300 million," a mid-point "year-over-year growth of approximately 41%," and "Non-GAAP gross margin is expected to be approximately 56%." Second-quarter revenue was $11.5 billion.

Wednesday, November 4

  • Before the open: Uber, third quarter, with the call at 8:00 AM ET (5:00 AM Pacific) per the schedule reported from its investor site; we could not load the page directly. Uber's August 5 release guided to gross bookings of $58.25 billion to $60.25 billion and adjusted EBITDA of $2.86 billion to $2.96 billion, after second-quarter gross bookings of $58.0 billion.
  • Before the open, expected: McDonald's, third quarter. The exchange calendars list it for the 4th; McDonald's had not posted a date or call time on its investor site when this was written, and its last two third-quarter calls were on November 5, 2025 and October 29, 2024.
  • 10:00 AM ET: October ISM Services PMI, the one whose Prices and Employment lines move rates more than the headline. Also at 8:30 AM: the September trade balance (BEA).
  • After the close: Qualcomm, fourth quarter and fiscal 2026, call at 1:45 PM Pacific, per Qualcomm's October 22 notice. Its July 29 guidance, from the release: revenue of $9.7 billion to $10.5 billion, QCT revenue of $8.4 billion to $9.0 billion, non-GAAP EPS of $2.05 to $2.25, after a third quarter of $9.9 billion, down 4% from a year earlier.
  • After the close: Arm, second quarter of fiscal 2027, call at 2:00 PM Pacific, per Arm's notice. Arm files with the SEC as a foreign private issuer on Form 6-K, so it is not in the report-day tables below, which are built from Form 8-K filings.

Thursday, November 5

  • 8:30 AM ET: third-quarter productivity and unit labor costs, BLS. After the close, per the exchange calendars: Airbnb, Cloudflare, Atlassian and Monster Beverage, among others.

Friday, November 6

  • 8:30 AM ET: the October jobs report: payrolls, the unemployment rate and average hourly earnings. Our jobs report post has what the S&P 500 did on all 126 report days since 2016. At 10:00 AM: the University of Michigan's preliminary November sentiment reading.
  • Berkshire Hathaway is on the exchange lists for this week with no date announced. Its third-quarter reports have come out on the first Saturday of November in recent years (November 1, 2025; November 2, 2024), so the stock's first reaction would be Monday, November 9.

How we measured the 322 report days

For each of the six US filers we took every Form 8-K with an Item 2.02 (results of operations) from EDGAR, 2010 onward, or from the IPO for Palantir (2020) and Uber (2019). The filing's acceptance time, converted to Eastern time, decides the reaction session: a report accepted after 4:00 PM ET is measured on the next session, one accepted before 9:30 AM on the same day. That matters here because Uber switched from after-the-close to before-the-open reporting in May 2022, Pfizer has reported before the open for the whole record, and McDonald's did too until its February 2026 report, which came after the close. Pre-announcements, guidance updates, an accounting recast and deal filings that carried an Item 2.02 (four for AMD, four for Pfizer, six for Uber, two for McDonald's) were dropped so each row is a scheduled quarterly report. The move is close to close on dividend- and split-adjusted daily bars; the gap is the open against the prior close; "open to close" is what the regular session added or took away after the gap. One Pfizer filing accepted at 9:35 AM is counted as a same-day report.

AMD on Tuesday night: down on 41 of 67 report days

AMD: 67 report days since 2010. Up 26, down 41. Median swing 7.2% in either direction, median move -1.6%. 44 of 67 moved at least 5% and 26 at least 10%. Extremes: +52.3% on April 22, 2016 and -24.2% on May 2, 2017. Median opening gap 5.3%; median open-to-close +0.3%; the gap's direction reversed by the close 12 times. Over the following five sessions the stock was up 32 of 67 times, median -0.7%. The S&P 500's median move on those days was 0.50%.

The last eight, reaction session first, then the close-to-close move, the opening gap and the open-to-close:

  • Oct 30, 2024: -10.6%, gap -8.0%, open to close -2.9%.
  • Feb 5, 2025: -6.3%, gap -9.9%, open to close +4.1%.
  • May 7, 2025: +1.8%, gap +2.2%, open to close -0.4%.
  • Aug 6, 2025: -6.4%, gap -5.3%, open to close -1.2%.
  • Nov 5, 2025: +2.5%, gap -2.7%, open to close +5.4%.
  • Feb 4, 2026: -17.3%, gap -11.2%, open to close -6.9%.
  • May 6, 2026: +18.6%, gap +15.3%, open to close +2.9%.
  • Aug 5, 2026: -7.0%, gap -6.6%, open to close -0.5%.

Two things stand out in AMD's record. First, the skew: 41 down days against 26 up, and a median move of -1.6%, in a stock that rose many times over across the same 16 years. The reports have been where AMD gives ground, and the stretches between them where it gains. Second, the size has not shrunk: since 2023 the median swing is 7.0% over 15 reports, with 6 up, and this year alone produced a -17.3% day in February and a +18.6% day in May. The +52.3% day in April 2016 was the quarter AMD announced a chip licensing joint venture in China alongside results; the -24.2% day in May 2017 followed a quarter that beat but guided to a thinner margin.

Palantir on Monday night: the most volatile reporter of the week

Palantir: 24 report days since 2020. Up 13, down 11. Median swing 12.4% in either direction, median move +7.3%. 24 of 24 moved at least 5% and 16 at least 10%. Extremes: +30.8% on February 6, 2024 and -21.3% on May 9, 2022. Median opening gap 11.5%; median open-to-close -0.1%; the gap's direction reversed by the close 2 times. Over the following five sessions the stock was up 14 of 24 times, median +5.8%. The S&P 500's median move on those days was 0.82%.

The last eight, reaction session first, then the close-to-close move, the opening gap and the open-to-close:

  • Nov 5, 2024: +23.5%, gap +15.6%, open to close +6.8%.
  • Feb 4, 2025: +24.0%, gap +22.8%, open to close +1.0%.
  • May 6, 2025: -12.1%, gap -8.9%, open to close -3.4%.
  • Aug 5, 2025: +7.8%, gap +6.9%, open to close +0.8%.
  • Nov 4, 2025: -7.9%, gap -7.3%, open to close -0.7%.
  • Feb 3, 2026: +6.8%, gap +11.7%, open to close -4.3%.
  • May 5, 2026: -6.9%, gap -3.9%, open to close -3.1%.
  • Aug 4, 2026: +29.4%, gap +15.5%, open to close +12.1%.

Every one of Palantir's 24 report days has moved the stock at least 5%, and 16 of them at least 10%. The median gap at the open is 11.5%, almost the whole median swing, and the session after the gap has added a median of -0.1%: the news is priced in the first print. Only 2 of 24 gaps reversed direction by the close. Since 2023 the lean has been up, 10 of 15, with a median swing of 15.1%; the August 4, 2026 session was +29.4%, the biggest in the record, and even that one opened +15.5% and kept climbing. The 6 November reports split 3 up and 3 down, including -7.9% last November and +23.5% the November before.

Qualcomm on Wednesday night: 16 November reports, split 8 and 8

Qualcomm: 67 report days since 2010. Up 27, down 40. Median swing 5.0% in either direction, median move -0.8%. 34 of 67 moved at least 5% and 7 at least 10%. Extremes: +15.2% on July 30, 2020 and -15.2% on November 5, 2015. Median opening gap 5.0%; median open-to-close -0.4%; the gap's direction reversed by the close 5 times. Over the following five sessions the stock was up 31 of 67 times, median -0.4%. The S&P 500's median move on those days was 0.64%.

The last eight, reaction session first, then the close-to-close move, the opening gap and the open-to-close:

  • Nov 7, 2024: -0.1%, gap +4.2%, open to close -4.1%.
  • Feb 6, 2025: -3.7%, gap -4.6%, open to close +0.9%.
  • May 1, 2025: -8.9%, gap -6.5%, open to close -2.6%.
  • Jul 31, 2025: -7.7%, gap -3.7%, open to close -4.2%.
  • Nov 6, 2025: -3.6%, gap -1.1%, open to close -2.6%.
  • Feb 5, 2026: -8.5%, gap -10.7%, open to close +2.5%.
  • Apr 30, 2026: +15.1%, gap +10.3%, open to close +4.4%.
  • Jul 30, 2026: -2.6%, gap -5.9%, open to close +3.5%.

Qualcomm's fiscal fourth quarter lands in early November every year, so there are 16 direct comparisons: 8 up, 8 down, median swing 6.1%. The recent record is weaker than the long one: since 2023 only 3 of 15 report days closed up, the exception being +15.1% on April 30, 2026. Qualcomm's gaps hold: just 5 of 67 reversed by the close, the fewest of the six. The worst day in the record, -15.2% on November 5, 2015, was also a November report.

Uber on Wednesday morning: the reaction happens before the opening bell

Uber: 30 report days since 2019. Up 14, down 16. Median swing 5.7% in either direction, median move -1.4%. 21 of 30 moved at least 5% and 4 at least 10%. Extremes: +18.9% on August 2, 2022 and -9.8% on November 5, 2019. Median opening gap 5.2%; median open-to-close +0.0%; the gap's direction reversed by the close 6 times. Over the following five sessions the stock was up 17 of 30 times, median +2.3%. The S&P 500's median move on those days was 0.65%.

The last eight, reaction session first, then the close-to-close move, the opening gap and the open-to-close:

  • Oct 31, 2024: -9.3%, gap -6.2%, open to close -3.3%.
  • Feb 5, 2025: -7.6%, gap -4.7%, open to close -3.0%.
  • May 7, 2025: -2.5%, gap -3.1%, open to close +0.6%.
  • Aug 6, 2025: -0.2%, gap +1.8%, open to close -1.9%.
  • Nov 4, 2025: -5.1%, gap -7.8%, open to close +2.9%.
  • Feb 4, 2026: -5.2%, gap -3.0%, open to close -2.2%.
  • May 6, 2026: +8.5%, gap +6.2%, open to close +2.2%.
  • Aug 5, 2026: -5.3%, gap -4.2%, open to close -1.2%.

Uber is the week's reporter whose move is already over when the regular session starts. Since it moved to a pre-market release in 2022, the report-day move has been down in 7 of the last eight, with the one up day +8.5% on May 6, 2026. Across all 30 reports the stock is 14 up and 16 down with a median swing of 5.7%, and the five sessions after a report have been up 17 of 30 times with a median of +2.3%. For an automated setup that only trades the regular session, the practical point is that an 8:00 AM report shows up as an already-moved stock at the open, not as a gap you can plan around the night before.

McDonald's on Wednesday morning (expected): a stock that barely moves on earnings

McDonald's: 67 report days since 2010. Up 34, down 33. Median swing 1.7% in either direction, median move +0.0%. 5 of 67 moved at least 5% and 0 at least 10%. Extremes: +8.1% on October 22, 2015 and -5.0% on October 22, 2019. Median opening gap 1.6%; median open-to-close +0.0%; the gap's direction reversed by the close 14 times. Over the following five sessions the stock was up 40 of 67 times, median +0.6%. The S&P 500's median move on those days was 0.56%.

The last eight, reaction session first, then the close-to-close move, the opening gap and the open-to-close:

  • Oct 29, 2024: -0.6%, gap +0.3%, open to close -0.9%.
  • Feb 10, 2025: +4.8%, gap +2.7%, open to close +2.0%.
  • May 1, 2025: -1.9%, gap -2.0%, open to close +0.2%.
  • Aug 6, 2025: +3.0%, gap +2.8%, open to close +0.2%.
  • Nov 5, 2025: +2.2%, gap +0.1%, open to close +2.0%.
  • Feb 12, 2026: +2.7%, gap +2.0%, open to close +0.7%.
  • May 7, 2026: -0.1%, gap +1.3%, open to close -1.4%.
  • Aug 4, 2026: +1.2%, gap +1.9%, open to close -0.7%.

McDonald's is the quiet one. In 67 report days since 2010 it has never moved 10% and moved 5% only 5 times; the median swing is 1.7%. Because the moves are small the gap direction reversed by the close 14 times, which is not a tradeable pattern, just noise around zero. Its biggest report day, +8.1% on October 22, 2015, was the quarter all-day breakfast launched. If the Wednesday date holds, the one thing to know is that McDonald's earnings have been a non-event for the S&P 500 and usually for the stock.

Pfizer on Tuesday morning: 67 reports, median move 2%

Pfizer: 67 report days since 2010. Up 32, down 35. Median swing 2.0% in either direction, median move -0.2%. 5 of 67 moved at least 5% and 0 at least 10%. Extremes: +6.1% on May 1, 2024 and -5.0% on January 28, 2020. Median opening gap 1.2%; median open-to-close +0.1%; the gap's direction reversed by the close 15 times. Over the following five sessions the stock was up 34 of 67 times, median +0.1%. The S&P 500's median move on those days was 0.53%.

The last eight, reaction session first, then the close-to-close move, the opening gap and the open-to-close:

  • Oct 29, 2024: -1.4%, gap +0.5%, open to close -1.9%.
  • Feb 4, 2025: -1.3%, gap -0.4%, open to close -0.9%.
  • Apr 29, 2025: +3.2%, gap -0.9%, open to close +4.2%.
  • Aug 5, 2025: +5.2%, gap +3.1%, open to close +2.0%.
  • Nov 4, 2025: -1.5%, gap -1.1%, open to close -0.4%.
  • Feb 3, 2026: -3.3%, gap -4.9%, open to close +1.6%.
  • May 5, 2026: +0.6%, gap +1.1%, open to close -0.5%.
  • Aug 4, 2026: +1.5%, gap +0.0%, open to close +1.5%.

Pfizer's record looks like McDonald's: 67 reports, 32 up and 35 down, median swing 2.0%, never a 10% day, and 5 days of 5% or more, the largest +6.1% on May 1, 2024. The gap median is 1.2%, so most of what little move there is happens during the session rather than at the open, the opposite of the AMD and Palantir pattern. The call is at 10:00 AM ET, half an hour into the session, which is when the guidance detail lands.

Ranking the six by what a report day usually does

Median swing on the report day, either direction, with the share of report days that moved at least 5%:

  • Palantir: 12.4% median swing, 100% of report days at least 5%, 13 up and 11 down.
  • AMD: 7.2% median swing, 66% of report days at least 5%, 26 up and 41 down.
  • Uber: 5.7% median swing, 70% of report days at least 5%, 14 up and 16 down.
  • Qualcomm: 5.0% median swing, 51% of report days at least 5%, 27 up and 40 down.
  • Pfizer: 2.0% median swing, 7% of report days at least 5%, 32 up and 35 down.
  • McDonald's: 1.7% median swing, 7% of report days at least 5%, 34 up and 33 down.

Two patterns run across the six. The large movers (Palantir, AMD, Qualcomm) do most of the move in the opening gap and rarely reverse it, which is the same thing we found in Tesla's record: the close-to-close number understates how bad a bought-the-open trade can be. The small movers (McDonald's, Pfizer) reverse their gaps about a fifth of the time, because the gaps are tiny to begin with. And the S&P 500 itself has not cared much about any of them: its median move on these 322 days was between 0.5% and 0.8% depending on the name, an ordinary session, which is consistent with our earnings-season study that index-level moves during reporting weeks come from a few giant names, this month Apple and, on the 17th, Nvidia.

How we handle a week like this, and what we leave alone

We do not forecast any of these prints, and the software does not trade the report itself. What it does is mechanical and sits in the settings. Earnings awareness is an opt-in rule, off by default, that keeps the auto-trader from opening a position in a stock whose report falls inside a window you pick, 3, 7 or 14 days ahead; with six large reporters in four days, that window is the setting to look at this weekend if you hold any of them. The daily spend limit caps how much new money goes to work on a gap morning. A fixed or trailing stop on every position decides the exit before the release, not during the 4:05 PM scramble. And buy approvals, if you turn them on, mean nothing fires on Wednesday's open without your tap. The settings glossary explains each one, and you can set those rules up in a few minutes.

On the before-the-open reporters there is one more thing worth knowing about how any rules-based system sees them: Uber, Pfizer and McDonald's will have already moved by the time the regular session opens, so a momentum rule meets them as stocks that are up or down several percent at 9:30 with the news out, not as a report in progress. For the after-close names, the gap at the next open is the first thing the rules see, and the record above says that gap is most of the day. If you want to watch how the mechanics handle an earnings week on a sample account before connecting a broker, start with the demo. For the rest of the month, the November calendar has every date, and the Q3 earnings season guide lists the remaining reporters by week; the week of October 19 is the previous post in this series, with its results filled in.

Quick answers

What earnings come out the week of November 2, 2026?

Apple and Palantir after the close on Monday, November 2; Pfizer and Shopify before the open and AMD after the close on Tuesday, November 3; Uber (and, expected, McDonald's) before the open and Qualcomm and Arm after the close on Wednesday, November 4; Airbnb, Cloudflare and Atlassian on Thursday, November 5. Berkshire Hathaway has not announced a date; its recent third-quarter reports came out on the first Saturday of November.

When does AMD report Q3 2026 earnings?

Tuesday, November 3, 2026, after the market close, with the conference call at 5:00 PM ET, per AMD's October 6 notice. AMD guided to revenue of approximately $13 billion, plus or minus $300 million, and a non-GAAP gross margin of approximately 56%. The stock's first full session on the news is Wednesday, November 4.

How much does Palantir stock move after earnings?

A lot, by the standards of a large company: across its 24 report days since its 2020 listing the median swing is 12.4% in either direction, every report moved the stock at least 5%, and 16 moved it at least 10%. Most of the move is in the opening gap (median 11.5%), and only 2 of 24 gaps reversed by the close.

Is the stock market open on Election Day, November 3, 2026?

Yes. US stock and bond markets trade normal hours on Election Day; it is not a market holiday. The jobs report on Friday, November 6 and the Veterans Day bond-market closure on November 11 are the other dates to note this month.
