Nvidia Earnings November 17, 2026: What NVDA Did the Day After Every Report Since 2010 (67 Reports)

Nvidia earnings November 17, 2026: close-up of a processor on a circuit board lit in purple and green

Nvidia reports its third quarter of fiscal 2027, the quarter that ended October 25, on Tuesday, November 17, 2026, after the market closes, with the call at 2:00 PM Pacific, 5:00 PM Eastern, per the company's October 28 notice. The bar it set for itself in August: revenue of $108.0 billion, plus or minus 2%, and a 74.0% gross margin, with no Data Center compute revenue from China assumed. The stock's first full reaction comes Wednesday, November 18.

What that Wednesday has looked like before is the useful part. We took every scheduled Nvidia earnings report since 2010 from the company's SEC filings, 67 of them, and measured the next session from daily bars. The day after a report NVDA closed up 37 times and down 30. The median swing in either direction was 4.9%; 33 of the 67 moved at least 5% and 11 moved at least 10%. The record runs from +29.8% on November 11, 2016 to -18.8% on November 16, 2018. And in 9 of the last 12 reports the stock closed below where it opened the next morning, which matters more than the headline direction if you trade it, as explained below.

When Nvidia reports, and what is already on the table

The date and time are confirmed by Nvidia, not by a third-party calendar. The report lands after the 4:00 PM ET close on November 17; the call starts an hour later. The numbers to be judged against come from the August 26 release: second-quarter revenue was $96.2 billion, Data Center revenue $89.0 billion, and the company's own third-quarter outlook reads, word for word, "Revenue is expected to be $108.0 billion, plus or minus 2%. NVIDIA is not assuming any Data Center compute revenue from China in its outlook," with "GAAP and non-GAAP gross margins ... expected to be 74.0%, plus or minus 50 basis points."

Three things make this particular report heavier than most. It is the largest single stock in the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq 100, so its guidance sets Wednesday's tone for the whole tape, which is why it sits on our November calendar next to the jobs report and CPI. It comes a month after TSMC's record quarter, the foundry that makes Nvidia's chips, so the demand side is partly known. And it is the last big AI print before the Fed's December meeting, in a stretch where chip stocks have already shown this fall that one headline can take the whole group down.

What NVDA did the day after every report since 2010

Method, so you can repeat it: the report dates are every Form 8-K with an Item 2.02 (results of operations) that Nvidia filed with the SEC from February 2010 through August 2026, from EDGAR. Three filings were dropped because they were not scheduled reports: a May 6, 2014 filing two days before the real one, the January 28, 2019 revenue pre-announcement, and the August 8, 2022 preliminary results. Nvidia always reports after the close, so the reaction day is the next session, measured close to close on dividend- and split-adjusted daily bars. That leaves 67 reports over 16 and a half years.

  • Direction: up 37, down 30. The median day-after move was +0.5%; the average was +2.2%, pulled up by a handful of very large gains.
  • Size: median swing 4.9% in either direction. 33 of 67 reports moved the stock at least 5% the next day, and 11 moved it at least 10%.
  • Extremes: +29.8% on November 11, 2016 (the fiscal 2017 third quarter, when data-center revenue roughly doubled) and -18.8% on November 16, 2018 (the quarter Nvidia cut its outlook over unsold gaming chips after the crypto-mining bust). Both were November reports.
  • The week after: measured over the five sessions following the report, NVDA was up 37 of 67 times with a median of +2.9%, so the first day's direction held more often than not.

The size of the move has not shrunk as the company got bigger, which surprises people who assume a multi-trillion-dollar stock cannot swing like a $10 billion one:

  • 2010 to 2019: 40 reports, 21 up, median swing 5.1%, range -18.8% to +29.8%.
  • 2020 to 2022: 12 reports, 8 up, median swing 4.0%, range -8.2% to +8.2%.
  • 2023 to 2026: 15 reports, 8 up, median swing 5.5%, range -8.5% to +24.4%. The +24.4% day was May 25, 2023, the report that first guided to the AI data-center demand.

The last 12 reports, one line each

Report date, then the next session's close-to-close move, the opening gap, what the stock did from that open to the close, and the five-session move:

  • Nov 21, 2023: next day -2.5%, opened -0.2%, open to close -2.3%, week -3.6%.
  • Feb 21, 2024: next day +16.4%, opened +11.2%, open to close +4.7%, week +15.1%.
  • May 22, 2024: next day +9.3%, opened +7.5%, open to close +1.7%, week +16.4%.
  • Aug 28, 2024: next day -6.4%, opened -3.4%, open to close -3.1%, week -14.6%.
  • Nov 20, 2024: next day +0.5%, opened +2.4%, open to close -1.8%, week -7.2%.
  • Feb 26, 2025: next day -8.5%, opened +2.8%, open to close -11.0%, week -10.6%.
  • May 28, 2025: next day +3.2%, opened +5.5%, open to close -2.2%, week +5.3%.
  • Aug 27, 2025: next day -0.8%, opened -0.4%, open to close -0.4%, week -5.5%.
  • Nov 19, 2025: next day -3.2%, opened +5.1%, open to close -7.8%, week -3.4%.
  • Feb 25, 2026: next day -5.5%, opened -0.7%, open to close -4.8%, week -6.4%.
  • May 20, 2026: next day -1.8%, opened -0.5%, open to close -1.3%, week -4.1%.
  • Aug 26, 2026: next day +8.7%, opened +6.3%, open to close +2.3%, week +7.0%.

Three of the last four reports produced a down day after, including last November's, when the stock opened +5.1% and closed -3.2%. The one up day in the four, August 27, 2026, was +8.7%. Reports since 2024 have been judged as much on the next quarter's guide and the gross-margin line as on the quarter itself, which is why the 74.0% figure above is the number to watch on the 17th.

November reports: all 16 of them

Nvidia's fiscal third quarter always lands in November, so there are 16 direct comparisons. They split exactly 8 up and 8 down, with a median swing of 3.3% and a median move of -0.6%, a touch quieter than the other quarters. Next-session move in each:

  • Nov 12, 2010: -1.2% (week +3.7%).
  • Nov 10, 2011: +3.5% (week -2.8%).
  • Nov 8, 2012: -3.9% (week -8.6%).
  • Nov 7, 2013: +6.9% (week +11.5%).
  • Nov 6, 2014: -2.1% (week -3.3%).
  • Nov 5, 2015: +13.9% (week +9.7%).
  • Nov 10, 2016: +29.8% (week +36.3%).
  • Nov 9, 2017: +5.3% (week +3.1%).
  • Nov 15, 2018: -18.8% (week -28.4%).
  • Nov 14, 2019: -2.7% (week +0.2%).
  • Nov 18, 2020: +0.1% (week -1.4%).
  • Nov 17, 2021: +8.2% (week +11.7%).
  • Nov 16, 2022: -1.5% (week +3.8%).
  • Nov 21, 2023: -2.5% (week -3.6%).
  • Nov 20, 2024: +0.5% (week -7.2%).
  • Nov 19, 2025: -3.2% (week -3.4%).

The two largest moves in the whole 67-report record are both in this list, in consecutive years at opposite ends: +29.8% in 2016 and -18.8% in 2018. November has produced the calm and the extremes; it has not produced a lean.

The gap and the fade: where the day actually happens

Because the report lands after the close, most of the move is in the opening print. Across the 67 reports the median absolute gap at the open was 3.4%, against a median swing of 4.9% for the full day. From that open to the close the median move was +0.2%, which is to say the regular session added almost nothing on average. The direction set by the gap reversed by the close in 15 of 67 reports, about one in four.

The recent pattern is sharper. In 9 of the last 12 reports the stock closed below its opening price the next day, whatever the gap had been. Last November is the clearest case: a +5.1% open became a -3.2% close, a -7.8% slide during the session. February 2025 opened +2.8% and finished -8.5%. If you only look at the close-to-close number you see a down day; if you bought the open you had a much worse one. For anyone with a buy rule that triggers on the morning gap, this is the table to reread.

Does a run-up into the report change the odds?

A common belief is that a stock that rallied into the print "has it priced in" and falls after. In this record it is half true. When NVDA rose over the five sessions before a report (40 cases), the next day was up 20 times, 50%. When it fell into the report (27 cases), the next day was up 17 times, 63%. A weak week before has been followed by a better reaction day slightly more often, but 27 cases is a thin base, and the November 2022 report, which came after a +15.5% run-up and produced a -1.5% day, shows how little the rule protects you.

What the rest of the market did on the same sessions

On the 67 reaction days the S&P 500's median absolute move was 0.4%, and it closed up on 44 of them. NVDA beat the index on 36 of the 67 days. The index-level effect is a recent thing: on February 22, 2024, the S&P 500 rose +2.1% on a +16.4% Nvidia day, and on February 27, 2025, it fell -1.6% on a -8.5% one. With the stock at the top of the index, a bad Wednesday morning is not contained to one ticker, which is the point of our earnings-season study on how little the index itself tends to move during reporting weeks and how much of that movement is a few names.

How we handle an earnings night, and what we do not do

We do not forecast the number. What the software does on a night like November 17 is mechanical and visible in the settings. Earnings awareness is an opt-in rule, off by default, that keeps the auto-trader from buying a stock whose report falls inside a window you pick, 3, 7 or 14 days ahead; most members leave it off and let the other rules do the work. A daily spend limit caps how much new money goes to work on the 18th whatever the gap looks like. A fixed or trailing stop on every position decides the exit before the release, not during the 4:21 PM scramble, which is the point of our guide to trading a monster earnings week. And buy approvals, if you turn them on, mean nothing fires on a gap morning without your tap. The settings glossary explains each one. If you want to see the mechanics on a sample account before connecting a broker, start with the demo; it runs the same rules on house money.

For the rest of the month, the November calendar has every date and time, and the Q3 earnings season guide lists the other reporters by week, including Apple on November 2. If the one lesson of this record is that the Nvidia reaction is decided at 9:30 AM and often undone by 4:00 PM, the one setting to check before the 17th is the stop on anything you already hold, and you can set those rules up in a few minutes.
