How to Automate Crypto Trading on Kraken With JorgAI: Setup in Six Steps and What We Learned Placing Real Orders

Trader at a bank of market screens, cover for the Kraken automation guide

JorgAI now connects to Kraken. Members who keep crypto there can run their own rules on it: the AI scans crypto pairs around the clock, places spot trades inside the member's own Kraken account, and the stops, trailing stops and profit targets are enforced by JorgAI's monitors. The key you create cannot withdraw, so the money never leaves Kraken.

This guide covers the setup step by step and, more usefully, what we learned building and testing the connection with real orders on our own account: which permissions the key needs and which it must not have, why you do not need to whitelist an address, how dollar-sized buys work on Kraken, where the per-pair minimums bite, and the one way Kraken is friendlier than the other exchange we connect to. It is education, not advice.

Who this is for, and who it is not for

It is for members with a US Kraken account who want their crypto rules run automatically. The connection trades spot crypto pairs only; Kraken's tokenized stocks are not available to US customers and are not wired. If you trade stocks as well, keep a stock broker connected on another JorgAI profile. The connection is on the web portal; crypto-only venues are not shown in the iOS app. If you do not have a Kraken account, kraken.com opens one; the Kraken guide page has the short version of everything below.

Step by step: connecting Kraken to JorgAI

  1. 1. Turn on two-factor authentication on your Kraken login if it is not already on. Kraken requires it before it will issue API keys.
  2. 2. Create the key. Sign in at kraken.com, open Settings, then API, then Create API key. Kraken's own walkthrough has screenshots.
  3. 3. Set the permissions. Tick Query Funds, Query Open Orders & Trades, Query Closed Orders & Trades, Create & Modify Orders, Cancel/Close Orders, and Query Ledger Entries. Leave Withdraw Funds off. JorgAI never asks for it, and a key without it cannot move money anywhere.
  4. 4. Skip the IP allow-list. Kraken does not require one, and JorgAI does not need one. If you set one anyway, add a nonce window of a few seconds on the key so that requests from JorgAI's different servers are never rejected for arriving out of order.
  5. 5. Paste the key and the private key in JorgAI. Settings, then Broker, then the Kraken tile. JorgAI checks the key with a balance read before it saves anything, so a missing permission shows up right there. The keys are encrypted before storage and never shown again.
  6. 6. Fund the USD balance. JorgAI trades the dollars in your spot wallet. Set your position size, stop and daily loss limit, and switch auto-trading on when you are ready. The full walkthrough is in the help center.

What we learned testing it with real orders

We built and tested the connection on our own Kraken account with ten-dollar lots, then ran a second sweep through every trading and AI setting before offering it. Six things are worth knowing, and each one is handled in the product:

  • Buy fees come out of dollars, so everything you buy is sellable. On Kraken a $10 market buy filled 0.00012333 BTC and the fee came out of the USD balance. Selling 0.00012333 BTC later went through exactly. That sounds trivial until you learn that the other exchange we connect to takes buy fees out of the coin, which leaves you a fraction short when you sell. On Kraken, no dust is left behind.
  • Dollar-sized buys land on the exact amount. Kraken lets a market buy be placed in dollars. A $25 buy spends $25 and the coin amount is whatever that buys. JorgAI uses this for every dollar-sized entry, so your per-trade cap is honoured to the cent.
  • Every pair has a minimum order. Bitcoin's minimum is 0.00006 BTC (about five dollars at current prices), Ether's is 0.002 ETH, Dogecoin's is 50 DOGE, and so on. JorgAI reads the minimum for each pair before sending an order and refuses anything below it with a clear message. If your per-trade cap is set under a pair's minimum, the auto-trader simply skips that pair rather than sending a rejected order.
  • Kraken accepts stop orders, but JorgAI keeps the exits on its own monitors anyway. We placed and cancelled a real stop-loss order on Kraken to confirm it works. JorgAI still manages every stop, trailing stop and profit target on its servers so your exits behave identically on all six brokers, and a protective exit that misses as a limit order is re-sent at market. In the live test the production monitor stopped a position out within forty seconds of the stop being crossed and sold a profit-target lot within twenty seconds of the target.
  • Kraken rejects a request that arrives out of order. Kraken checks every request for an always-increasing number called a nonce. When two JorgAI processes use the same key at once, a request can arrive behind a newer one and be rejected. JorgAI now retries that case once with a fresh nonce, and it never counts as a broken key, so you will not get a false "reconnect your key" notice from it.
  • Each key is its own account to JorgAI. Kraken exposes no account id over its API, so JorgAI identifies a connection by the key itself. Create one key per JorgAI profile. If you ever replace a key, connect the new one as a fresh account; the old connection's history stays with the old key.

What stays the same on every venue

Connecting Kraken does not change how JorgAI trades. The AI scans the same crypto universe it uses on Alpaca and Crypto.com, the same confidence bar applies, and every setting works: per-trade cap, buying-power percentage, smart sizing, max open positions, max positions per day, the daily loss circuit breaker, minimum hold, buy approvals and the 48-hour cooldown after a stop-out. We ran all of them on the Kraken account in the second test sweep, and the activity feed explains every buy, every skip and every exit in plain English. How stops are automated and how to size a position apply unchanged.

One difference from a stock broker: the market never closes. The scans and the monitors run around the clock, and a stop can fire at three in the morning on a Sunday. Trading a market that never closes covers what that means for your rules, and how crypto fees compound is worth a read before you set a high trade frequency. If you are choosing between Kraken, Crypto.com and Alpaca for crypto, we measured their fees and spreads side by side, and the Crypto.com setup guide is the sibling of this one.

Security, in plain terms

The key you create has no Withdraw Funds permission, so nothing connected to it can move money out of Kraken, including JorgAI. The key and private key are encrypted before they are stored, never written to logs, and never returned by any JorgAI screen or API. You can delete the key at kraken.com at any moment, which ends the connection instantly; JorgAI checks every connected Kraken key every six hours and tells you if one has stopped working. Disconnecting inside JorgAI removes the keys from your profile and wipes the connection's trade history, positions and cash activity. Is it safe to give a trading bot your exchange API key goes through the permission model in detail.

If you keep crypto on Kraken and want your rules enforced instead of remembered, connect it in about two minutes. Auto-trading stays off until you switch it on.

Quick answers

Can I automate crypto trading on Kraken with JorgAI? Yes. Create a Kraken API key with the funds, orders and ledger permissions and no Withdraw Funds, paste it into JorgAI Settings, and the AI places spot crypto trades in your Kraken account by the rules you set.

Which Kraken API permissions does JorgAI need? Query Funds, Query Open Orders & Trades, Query Closed Orders & Trades, Create & Modify Orders, Cancel/Close Orders, and Query Ledger Entries. Withdraw Funds stays off.

Do I need to whitelist JorgAI's IP address on Kraken? No. Kraken does not require an IP allow-list for API keys. Crypto.com does, which is why that guide lists an address and this one does not.

Does JorgAI trade stocks on Kraken? No. The connection trades spot crypto pairs only. Kraken's tokenized stocks are not offered to US customers.

What happens to my Kraken trades if I disconnect? The keys are removed from your profile and the connection's trades, positions and cash activity are wiped from JorgAI. Nothing changes at Kraken; any coins you hold stay in your account.
