Paper Trading Is Now on Every JorgAI Account: Test the AI With Simulated Money

Starting today, every JorgAI account includes paper trading. Connect a free Alpaca paper account and the AI trades simulated money using real-time market data: your rules, your confidence bar, your stops and targets, and every decision explained in your feed, with zero dollars at risk. When you have seen enough, you switch to a live account with the same setup. This post covers why we built it, how to set it up in about five minutes, what to actually test during your evaluation, and the honest limits.

The most reasonable question anyone asks about auto-trading is: can I watch it work before I trust it? The answer is now built into every account.

Why we made paper trading standard

Because you asked, literally. The single most common request from new users evaluating JorgAI has been some version of: I want to test this with fake money first. That is not skepticism to overcome; it is exactly the right instinct for any tool that trades real accounts, and it matches the evaluation checklist we recommend for any trading tool: watch live behavior, including the bad days, before committing. Our public $1M simulated account shows the AI trading OUR account. Paper trading shows it trading YOURS, with your settings, which is the evaluation that actually matters.

How to set it up (about 5 minutes)

  • 1. Create a free Alpaca account at alpaca.markets if you do not have one. No funding is required for paper trading.
  • 2. Open the Paper Trading section in your Alpaca dashboard once, so your paper account exists, and generate paper API keys from the API section.
  • 3. In JorgAI: Settings, then Broker, choose Alpaca, tick the paper trading box, and paste your paper key and secret.
  • 4. Set your rules and enable auto-trading. The AI treats the paper account exactly like a real one: position sizing, stop-losses and profit targets attached at entry, the daily loss brake, and the skip log all work identically. Auto-trading runs on Starter and Pro, which begin with a 7 day free trial, so the complete evaluation costs nothing.

The connect flow checks your keys against the right environment and tells you plainly if you have mixed up paper and live keys, so the setup is hard to get wrong. The full walkthrough lives in our paper trading help article.

What to test during your evaluation

  • Watch the skips, not just the trades. The feed shows every setup the AI declined and why: confidence below your bar, position limits, cooldowns. Disciplined inaction is most of what a good system does, and paper mode lets you watch it free.
  • Check that exits fire the way you configured. Every position should carry the stop-loss and target you set. Watch one full round trip and read the exit reasoning.
  • Try your real settings, not cautious ones. The point is to preview YOUR live configuration. Test the confidence bar, sizing, and sector preferences you actually intend to run, then judge the behavior across a week or two of varied market days, including the choppy ones.
  • Read the bad day. A down day on paper is a feature: it shows you exactly how the system behaves when things go against it, which is the only honest basis for trusting any automation.

The honest limits

Paper fills are simulated. Alpaca's paper trading environment is realistic and uses real-time market data, but simulated fills cannot perfectly reproduce live spreads, slippage, and queue position, so treat paper results as a preview of BEHAVIOR, not a guarantee of identical P&L. Paper trading is available with Alpaca only: Charles Schwab's API offers no paper environment, and we deliberately do not offer Tradier's sandbox because its 15-minute delayed fills would misrepresent how the AI actually trades. And a paper account that runs unattended forever proves nothing; give the evaluation a deliberate window, then decide. More on Alpaca's paper environment specifically in our Alpaca paper trading guide.

From paper to live, whenever you are ready

There is no forced timeline. When your evaluation convinces you, disconnect the paper account and connect your live broker, Alpaca, Schwab, or Tradier, and your settings carry the same discipline to real money. If it does not convince you, you have lost nothing but a couple of curious weeks, which is exactly how evaluating a trading tool should work. Create your account and start the test drive, or watch the live $1M simulated account first if you want proof before even that.

Frequently asked questions

Is paper trading free on JorgAI?

The paper connection itself is available on every account, and the Alpaca paper account is free with no funding required. Auto-trading runs on Starter and Pro plans, which begin with a 7 day free trial, so a full evaluation can cost nothing.

Do I need to put money in the Alpaca account?

No. Paper trading uses simulated money that Alpaca provides in the paper environment. You never fund anything to evaluate.

How realistic is paper trading?

The AI's analysis runs on real-time market data and its decisions are identical to live mode, including stops, targets, sizing, and skips. The fills are simulated by Alpaca's paper engine, which is realistic but cannot perfectly match live spreads and slippage, so treat results as a behavioral preview rather than exact P&L.

Why is paper trading only available with Alpaca?

Schwab's Trader API has no paper environment at all, and Tradier's sandbox fills orders on 15-minute delayed data, which would misrepresent the AI's real-time behavior. Alpaca's paper environment is the only one that gives an honest simulation, and the Alpaca paper account is free even if you plan to go live elsewhere.

How long should I paper trade before going live?

Long enough to see varied conditions: most users get a fair read in one to three weeks, including at least a few red days. What you are looking for is not profit in a small sample; it is whether the system's behavior, especially its exits and its skips, matches what you configured and expected.
