Day trading rules and PDT

Jorg AI supports both swing trading and day trading.

The rules changed in 2026. The FINRA Pattern Day Trader (PDT) rule - the old $25,000 minimum equity requirement and the 3-day-trades-per-5-days limit - was eliminated effective June 4, 2026 (SEC-approved amendments to FINRA Rule 4210). Day-trading access is no longer gated by a fixed dollar threshold or a trade count; instead, intraday buying power is governed by your broker's margin requirements.

What this means in practice:

  • Brokers have a transition period (until late 2027) to fully adopt the new framework, so some brokerage accounts may still show day-trade limits during the transition
  • Jorg AI follows whatever your connected broker reports: if your broker still applies day-trade limits, Jorg AI respects them and blocks orders that would violate them, with an explanation
  • If your broker has adopted the new framework, day trading is limited only by your buying power and your own Jorg AI risk settings

Swing trading (default):

Buy a position on one market day and sell on a future day. Day trading stays off unless you enable it.

Day trading:

Enable it in Settings > Trading. Before every same-day trade, Jorg AI checks what your broker allows and blocks anything your broker would reject, with the broker's reason shown.

Crypto is exempt from equity day-trading rules entirely and trades 24/7.
