Big news for the roughly 40 million people with a Charles Schwab account: Jorg AI now supports Schwab as a fully integrated broker. Sign in with your existing Schwab credentials in one click, grant access, and the same AI auto-trader that has been running on Alpaca now runs on your Schwab account with the same discipline, the same risk controls, and the same transparency.
The integration went live this week. If you already have a Schwab account, you can connect it right now.
Why this matters
Charles Schwab inherited the entire TD Ameritrade customer base in the recent merger, which means the Schwab platform is now home to a huge share of the retail investing world in the United States. Until now, if you wanted to run an AI auto-trader on your existing brokerage account, you had two options: move your money to a different broker, or wait for the tools to catch up. Neither is a fun choice.
Schwab support closes that gap. You can now keep your money exactly where it is, keep the tax-lot history and paperwork you already have with Schwab, and add automated trading on top of it. No transfer, no new account, no waiting periods.
How Schwab differs from the Alpaca connection
The Alpaca connection uses an API key and secret you paste from the Alpaca dashboard. That works well and is what most algorithmic trading platforms use. Schwab took a different path with their Trader API: you sign in through OAuth, the same flow you use to sign in with Google or Apple. There are no API keys to copy and paste, no shared secrets to lose. When you disconnect, Schwab immediately revokes access.
- Click Connect with Schwab on the Settings page.
- Sign in on the schwab.com page that opens. If you use two-factor authentication on Schwab, it will prompt you there.
- Approve the access request. Jorg AI never sees your password or your two-factor code.
- Come back to the portal. Schwab is now connected.
From that point on, everything else works the same as Alpaca: the auto-trader scans your watchlist and the AI universe, votes on setups, sizes positions to your risk profile, and executes trades in your Schwab account. Every position and every rule stays visible to you in the Jorg AI dashboard.
What about brackets, stops, and exit orders?
Schwab uses a different API concept for bracket-style orders than Alpaca does. Alpaca supports native bracket orders; Schwab calls them conditional order strategies. Under the hood, when you place a trade with a profit target and stop loss on Schwab, Jorg AI wraps your entry in what Schwab calls a TRIGGER parent with an OCO child pair for the two exit legs. Practically, that means your exit orders sit safely on Schwab's side even if the Jorg AI servers ever went dark. Your take-profit and stop-loss will still fire.
If a bracket cannot be placed for any reason (rare, usually a symbol restriction or account permission), the entry order still goes through and the exit is monitored server-side by Jorg AI. You will see a note on the trade log so you know the difference.
What about existing Alpaca users?
Nothing changes. Your Alpaca connection keeps working exactly as it has. One user can only have one broker connected at a time, so if you want to try Schwab, disconnect Alpaca first (this wipes trade history to keep the two accounts cleanly separated), then connect Schwab. You can switch back the same way. Nothing is locked in, nothing charges a fee to move.
For most users we recommend picking the broker where your primary trading money already lives. If that is Alpaca, stay on Alpaca. If it is Schwab, connect Schwab. If it is neither, Alpaca is still the fastest to open and has the tightest crypto integration.
Getting started with Schwab
If you already have a Schwab account:
- Sign in to the Jorg AI portal at portal.jorgai.com
- Go to Settings, then Broker
- Pick the Schwab tile and click Connect with Schwab
- Grant access on the schwab.com page and you are done
If you do not have a Schwab account yet and just want to try Jorg AI, we suggest starting with an Alpaca connection because you can open the account entirely online in a few minutes. Schwab account opening is a slightly heavier process because Schwab is a full-service broker, but for the many people who already have one, it is the fastest path to running an AI auto-trader on money that is already sitting where you want it.
What comes next
Interactive Brokers is the last major broker on our roadmap. IBKR support is a bigger technical build because their API is more complex, but it opens the door to international traders and to a very active algorithmic trading community. We are working on it. In the meantime, if you have a Schwab or Alpaca account, the platform is ready for you.
Questions about the Schwab integration, or a specific issue during setup? The help center covers the common cases, and support is a click away from any page inside the portal. We read everything that comes in.
